AUSTRIA: ANOTHER REPORT ON INTERNET USAGE

Article Abstract:

AC Nielsen have presented their report of internet usage in Austria. On the basis of data collected among 3,000 people in April 2001, it is estimated that 2.76mn Austrians, or 35% of the population, have internet access at home. On average, Austrians logged on to the internet 13 times per month (compared with 17 times in Germany and 19 times in the US). The average length of a surfing session was 28 minutes (29 minutes in Germany and 30 minutes in the US). On average 47 different web-sites were viewed per session (48 in Germany and 35 in the US). The average viewing time per page was 36 seconds (37 seconds in Germany and 52 seconds in the US). 41% of internet users in Austria are women, compared with 37% in the EU as a whole and 47% in Finland.

AUSTRIA: BROADVISION TARGETING EAST EUROPE

Article Abstract:

The US software company BroadVision has set up a branch in Vienna in order to serve the east European markets and Russia. By offering "personalised e-business" solutions, the company aims to generate a turnover of US$ 2.5mn in the first year and then grow by no less than 200% per year. In 1999 BroadVision made a net profit of US$ 18.8mn (up 370%) on a turnover of US$ 115.5mn (up 127%).

AUSTRIA: E-COMMERCE MARKET IN 2000

Article Abstract:

According to a study by Forrester Research, the Austrian e-commerce market was worth about Sch 37bn in year 2000. The business-to-consumer segment accounted for no more than Sch 3bn of the total.
