AUSTRIA: EASY SOFTWARE TAKES OVER ARCHIV AUSTRIA

The German company Easy Software AG is taking over 70% of the stock of its Austrian marketing partner Archiv Austria of Vienna and Archiv Consult of Salzburg in a deal backdated to the beginning of year 2000. Archiv Austria is a leading supplier of filing software in Austria. In the field of document management software and electronic archives it was a competitor of Easy Software AG. Archiv Austria's clients include Oesterreichische Nationalbank and Austrian Airlines. Easy Software, which already has subsidiaries in France, the UK and US, expects a turnover of DM 4.5mn in Austria in year 2000 and DM 6.2mn in 2001.

Austria: Firms need highly qualified IT workers

Article Abstract:

Although the demand for qualified IT employees has reduced by 65% since spring 2001, programmers and project managers are still in demand, according to Friedrich Bock of the IT association of the Austrian chamber of commerce. Consultant Roman Strauss found that of 300 firms in the telecoms and IT industries, only 45% suffered from a lack of qualified personnel. Because of the concentration of qualified personnel in the Vienna area, the greatest demand for personnel is in areas away from the capital.
