AUSTRIA: HELICOPTER COMPETITION TIGHTENS

While Austria's Defence Minister Herbert Scheibner is believed to advocate the offer of Sikorsky, Eurocopter has improved its offer for the delivery of 9 new helicopters to the Austrian defence force, the Bundesheer. After the US company reduced the period of time of counter purchases from 15 to 10 years, the French-German company is now said to be offering to carry out counter purchases within 8 rather than 10 years.

AUSTRIA: SIKORSKY UPS HELICOPTER OFFER

Article Abstract:

Sikorsky has improved its offer for the delivery of new helicopters to the Austrian defence force, the Bundesheer . Now the US company is offering 200% counter purchases within 10 rather than 15 years and thus matches the offer of Eurocopter. Defence minister Herbert Scheibner is expected to take a decision on the helicopter deal in the next few days.

AUSTRIA: AUDIT OFFICE WARNS OF HELICOPTER SHORTAGE

Article Abstract:

According to the federal audit office the Austrian defence force, the Bundesheer, will still lack transport helicopter capacity even after the purchase of 9 new ones. The office criticises also the fact although the purchase contract has been signed, the financing has not been fixed yet.
