AUSTRIA: KITCHEN MAKER REGINA GOES BANKRUPT

The Austrian Weikersdorf-based kitchen manufacturer Regina Kuchen GmbH has filed for bankruptcy. According to the credit information agency KSV, the company that is owned by the Emesco group of Switzerland has to find a partner or resort to a forced composition. The predecessor, Regina Kuchen AG, underwent a 10% composition in 1994. In 1999 Regina Kuchen GmbH made a balance sheet loss of Sch 28.8mn (Sch 71.2mn in 1998) on a turnover of Sch 375mn. The company employs 235 staff.

SCANDINAVIA: NOBIA EXPANDS BY ACQUISITIONS

Nobia, owned by the fund Industri Kapital, becomes the leading producer of kitchens in Europe through the acquisitions of the Swedish company Poggenpohl and Norwegian Norema. Norema owns the Danish company Invita, and Nobia is also the owner of HTH, the biggest kitchen producer in Denmark. In all, Nobia's turnover in the kitchen field totals DKr 5.5bn (USD 670mn) and the number of employees 5,000.

AUSTRIA: RATIONAL TAKES OVER REGINA KUCHEN

With effect from 11 May 2000, Rational Einbaukuchen is taking over the Austrian Weikersdorf-based fitted kitchen manufacturer Regina Kuchen GmbH. In February 2000 Regina went bankrupt for the third time in six years. The company owes about 500 creditors Sch 325mn. Rational Einbaukuchen is a subsidiary of the Italian kitchen maker Snaidero.
