AUSTRIA: NEW WATER ENGINEERING COMPANY FOUNDED

In Austria, VA Tech Wabag, Linz AG and Raiffeisenlandesbank Oberosterreich have set up a joint venture called IW - International Water Wabag GmbH. The new company will acquire water treatment and sewerage contracts in southern and eastern Europe and act as project developer and controller. The projects will be managed by companies to be set up for each project.

A new company called Ec4ec GmbH (E-Commerce for Engineered Components) has been set up by VA Tech together with Babcock Borsig, MG Technologies and SAP . What is said to be the first such trading platform in the engineering sector is expected to generate a trading volume of EUR 7bn by 2004.

GERMANY: VAI TAKES OVER FUCHS SYSTEMTECHNIK

Article Abstract:

Voest-Industrieanlagenbau (VAI) has raised its stake in German Fuchs Systemtechnik GmbH from 44% to 79%. The German company supplies electric furnaces and related components. In year 2000 it generated a turnover of Sch 1.032bn. It will operate under the name VAI Fuchs in future.
