AUSTRIA: JOB CUTS AT MAN SUBSIDIARIES

Article Abstract:

German commercial vehicle group MAN announced to scrap another 1,900 jobs. 170 of those job cuts will take place in MAN's Austrian subsidiaries, which currently have 3,800 staff and produced about one-third of all trucks sold through MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG in 2000. 150 jobs will be lost Steyr Nutzfahrzeuge, which produces small to medium-sized trucks. Bus producer OAF-Graf & Stift will have to cut 20 jobs. The job cuts in Austria are moderate as the doldrums in truck sales have not hit product range of Steyr to the full extent.
