AUSTRIA: SEMPERIT GIVES UP TYRE TECHNOLOGY CENTRE

Article Abstract:

Semperit Reifen AG, subsidiary of Continental of Germany, is selling its tyre technology centre in Kottingbrunn to Eco plus (industrialisation company of Lower Austria), private investors and municipalities. The new owners are to use the site for an automotive industry cluster. Vienna Polytechnic is planning to set up a research unit, and the companies Magna and Porsche are said to be interested.

AUSTRIA: SEMPERIT TO CUT CAR TYRE OUTPUT FURTHER?

Article Abstract:

There are rumours about Continental of Germany planning further cut-backs in the production of car tyres at its Austrian subsidiary Semperit Reifen in Traiskirchen. It is suggested that the annual production might be reduced from 2mn to 1mn tyres.

AUSTRIA: SEMPERIT RAISES TYRE PRICES

Article Abstract:

On 1 November 2000, Semperit is raising the prices of tyres by 6% on average. The hike affects Semperit, Continental and Uniroyal car and van tyres. The move is justified with the increase of crude prices.
