Subject to the approval of the creditors and the bankruptcy court, Steiner Freizeitmobel GmbH is to be bought by Friedrich Huemer, industrialist from Horsching (Polytec). The deal is believed to be worth Sch 300mn to 400mn. Huemer will continue production at Steiner and take over the 340 staff.

In Austria, bankruptcy proceedings have been initiated on the Graz-based conveyor and warehouse systems maker P.E.E.M. Forderanlagen GesmbH. The liabilities of the company that employs 411 staff are said to exceed assets by Sch 127mn. Reportedly P.E.E.M. might be taken over by the "international company" Schafer.
