AUSTRIA: TELECOMS PRICE WAR CONTINUES

Article Abstract:

In Austria, telecom companies are moving away from so-called flat rate prices. This is a result of the ruling of the Telecom Control Commission that set different interconnection charges for peak and off-peak times. Also due to the combinations of a range of services offered by operators, it is difficult for consumers to compare call prices. On 1 June 2000 UTA and Tele.ring will reduce the price of a call to Sch 0.33 per minute in off-peak time and to Sch 0.77 and Sch 0.75, respectively, in peak time. The cheapest rate in Austria is Sch 0.30 per minute.
