AUSTRIA: TENDERS FOR TETRA

Article Abstract:

Austria's Telekom Control Commission is inviting tenders by 29 November 1999 for concessions for the Tetra digital private mobile radio frequencies. The authority is offering 40 channels in the 26 GHz frequency in the greater Vienna area. Several firms have indicated their interest in the concessions that are to be granted in February 2000. The minimum bid is Sch 5mn. Tetra is said to be interesting for fixed-line telephony companies with networks of their own, which then spare the cost of installing underground cables.
