Aegon's net rose 7% in 1st quarter, missing forecasts

Aegon NV posted an increase of 7% in its net profits for the 2001 first-quarter. The company posted 535 million euros in net profits for the period. However, Aegon was expected to post approximately 550 million euros in net profits.

Aegon reserves could be put in jeopardy by downturn
