Akzo Nobel launches one billion mark Eurobond

Article Abstract:

Akzo Nobel NV, a manufacturer of chemicals from the Netherlands, introduces in the United Kingdom a new Eurobond issue valued at $604.5 million. The proceeds from the Eurobond issue will be utilized by the company in its efforts to purchase earlier in 1998 Courtaulds, a British group that manufactures coatings and textiles. Akzo Nobel's introduction of the Eurobond issue is also aimed at capitalizing on the Eurobond sector's revitalized market demand.

Reed Elsevier NV to buy back shares

Article Abstract:

Reed Elsevier NV announced that it is planning to repurchase and delist preference shares on the London Stock Exchange. The repurchase program is valued at 4.1 million pound sterling ($6.7 million). Reed International PLC will perform the program for Reed Elsevier. The repayment is contigent upon shareholders' approval of a special resolution. Preference shareholders of 3.85%, 3.5%, 4.9% will be allowed to vote under the resolution.

Shares for China Oilfield Services Ltd., also known as COSL, closed at nearly four times their price from one year ago, at $2.07, due to increasing energy prices and rapid economic development that are boosting demand. COSL is planning to debut 500 mil Class A shares in Shanghai at $1.80, representing a 16% discount.
