Alliance & Leicester leads Eurobond market issues

Article Abstract:

Alliance & Leicester PLC, a mortgage bank based in the UK, led new Eurobond issues on Aug. 3, 1998, with 300 million pounds sterling, or $490 million, of floating-rate notes. The UK mortgage bank was said to be selling at 6.5 basis points or six basis points over three-month sterling Libor. The notes issued by Alliance has a late payment date of Sep. 9, 1998. The late payment date was effected due to a call on Sep. 9, 1998, for 500 million pounds sterling in floating-rate notes that were issued by Halifax PLC, which is a mortgage lender, according to Flavio Fabbrizi, who is the director of syndicate at lead manager HSBC Markets.

Fidelity plans 719.8 million euros in debt

Article Abstract:

Fidelity Investments is planning to raise up to $750 million (719.8 million euros) in debt in order to provide financing for internal growth. The offering is also intended to produce funds for increasing expenditures for technology and for a growing venture-capital operation. Fidelity posted a quadruple increase in its net income for the first quarter of 1999 to $294.1 million.
