AlliedSignal buys Johnson Matthey unit

Article Abstract:

AlliedSignal Inc. has reached an agreement to acquire a US unit belonging to Johnson Matthey PLC in a deal worth $655 million (643.6 million euros). AlliedSignal will purchase Johnson Matthey Electronics. The proposed deal will expand AlliedSignal's presence in the semiconductor market. The move represents AlliedSignal's attempt to focus more on business lines that are more profitable.
