Alterra warns of loss in 4th quarter and a charge of up to $43 million

Alterra Healthcare Corp. cautioned that it would post a loss for the 1999 fourth-quarter. The company also said that it will post a $43 million (41.8 million euros) pretax charge that will effect its figures.

Minnesota Mining's profit beats estimates amid demand in Asia

Article Abstract:

Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co. posted higher-than-expected earnings for the second-quarter of 1999. The company was helped by a rapidly-expanding economic recovery in the Asian region. The company posted $476 million (446.3 million euros) in net income for the quarter. This comes out to $1.17 per diluted share. During the same period in 1998, Minnesota Mining posted $386 million.

Gap profit rose 32% in quarter
