America's fantastic factories: it is not just investment that counts, but how you use it

Article Abstract:

Investments in US factories have been used to provide excellent plants and machinery. This has resulted in high productivity. Even compared to Japan or Germany, US productivity is higher per unit of capital invested. Less US government regulations also give US capitalists more flexibility.

Prudent regulation of banks is preferable to economic regulation because it safeguards the longterm health of banks without stifling growth. Emerging market banks currently suffer under weak accounting rules, and under-regulation remains the most significant problem.

Airlines going global

Article Abstract:

Although they are now battling the world recession airlines have a bright future if the world's governments can agree on a deregulation strategy. Countries anxious to protect their own airlines' interests will cause the industry as a whole to fail.
