Amid probe, ABN Amro cuts off nearly 100 banks

The U.S. unit of Dutch banking giant ABN AMRO Holding N.V. has severed ties with approximately 100 banks in Russia, Eastern Europe, and the Caribbean. The New York-based bank's decision comes amid allegations from bank regulators that it has been involved in international transactions related to money laundering, fraud, and tax evasion.

U.S. Opposition Mounts Over ASM-Silicon Deal

The proposed acquisition of San Jose, Calif.-based Silicon Valley Group Inc. by Eindhoven, Netherland-based ASM Lithography Holding NV is being met with regulatory opposition in the U.S. The $1.6 billion deal has come under scrutiny by the U.S. House Commerce Committee.

ASM plans to delay SVG acquisition for security probe
