Litening II strikes in US and Europe

Article Abstract:

Northrop Grumman has delivered the first batch of Litening II day/night navigation and targeting pods to the US Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) and Air National Guard (ANG). The Litening II offers the AFRC and the ANG with laser targeting capability for its early-model F-16C/Ds. Units to be provided with the Litening II include the 10th Air Force's four AFRC squadrons in Arizona, Florida, Texas and Utah and 17 ANG squadrons deployed in 15 states.

Harris develops SWLAN technology

Article Abstract:

Harris Corp is creating secure wireless local area network (SWLAN) technology that will enable government and military users to exchange video, data and voice at a maximum of 11 Mb/sec. The capability is over 170 times as fast as is possible with the Falcon II tactical communications VHF termial which works at a rate of up to 64kb/sec. Its applications include wireless command posts, high data rate mobile communications, surveillance systems and datalinks for smart weapons.

Ampex to launch new quad-density recorders

Article Abstract:

Ampex Great Britain Ltd is introducing a new range of quad-density data recorders and automated library systems at Undersea Defence Technology Europe 2000 in London, UK, in Jun 2000. The DIS 164i DD-2 cartridge recorder is aimed at capturing instrumentation and telecommunications data at up to 20MB/sec. The new quad-density recorders support telecommunication formats which include OC3, ATM and SONET.
