An exploratory look at supermarket shopping paths

Article Abstract:

Analyses of a new dataset is presented that reveals the path taken by individual shoppers in an actual grocery, as provided by radio frequency identification (RFID) tags located on their shopping carts. Results dispel certain myths about shopper travel behavior perpetuated by common intuition, including behavior related to aisles, end-cap displays, and the 'racetrack'.

A Study of the service encounter in eight countries

Article Abstract:

The functional and technical elements of service encounters on customer's behavior are examined. A model of the same is presented and is also tested using service customers in fast food and grocery industries in eight countries.
