An intelligent system for US Coast Guard cutter scheduling

Article Abstract:

An intelligent scheduling software package that provides a one-year daily schedule for the US Coast Guard's fleet of cutter vessels has been built based on decision theory, knowledge bases and database design. The Cutter Scheduling Assistant Program, which consists of an automatic schedule generator and a discrete optimization system, has been in use since Dec. 1990 and integrated into a database information support system.

Modelling and analysis of multistage stochastic programming problems: a software environment

Article Abstract:

The development of an integrated software environment for modelling and analyzing multi-period stochastic programming problems becomes problematic due to the 'dimensionality' and 'representational' aspects of the sample data. The problem is compounded by the need to present the software as an easy-to-use and easy-to-interpret type of product that will respond to different problem environments.
