Another Italian Bank receives a foreign bid

Article Abstract:

ABN Amro Holding N.V. of the Netherlands has bid to acquire Banca Antonveneta S.p.A. for $6.3 billion Euros. The question is in whether Italian regulators, who have traditionally kept foreign investors at baywill concede. Shares of Banca Antonveneta S.p.A.have increased 6.4 percent and shares of ABN AMRO Holding N.V. are down 4.7 percent.

Erste wins bid for control of Romania's biggest bank

Article Abstract:

Erste Bank AG of Austria has purchased a controlling 62 percent interest in Banca Comerciala Romana S.A. of Romania. Erste Bank AG outbid Banco Comercial Portugues S.A. of Portugal. The deal attracted a lot of attention as the stake was predicted to be as large as 3 billion Euros, although the amount of the bid was not made public.

Citigroup likely to make a play for Turkish bank
