Application of multi-steps forecasting for restraining the bullwhip effect and improving inventory performance under autoregressive demand

Article Abstract:

Bluewhip effect refers to high degree of variances in inventory replacement orders as the business starts growing. It supposedly reflects the inefficiency of management. However, the phenomenon often results because of uncertain external demand. Using autoregression model, this demand can be quantified in multiple steps and the bluewhip effect can be controlled.
