As prices rise, homeowners go deep in debt to buy real estate

Selling homes has become a way for Americans to generate personal equity. Americans created approximately $705 billion of equity from home sales in 2004, compared with $266 billion in 1999. Research shows the extracted moneys is used to purchase another residence, pay off credit card debt and home improvements.

Ikea president moves to U.S.'s Home Depot

Article Abstract:

Anders Moberg, the president of Ikea Group, is leaving the company to become the international group president of Home Depot Inc. Mr. Moberg's appointment will take effect in September 1999. He will report to Chief Executive Officer Arthur M. Blank. Anders Dahlvig will replace Mr. Moberg at Ikea. The appointment of Mr. Moberg reflects Home Depot's ambitions of expanding its operations internationally.
