Audit ties millions in losses to unit's business practices

Article Abstract:

An audit by PriceWaterhouseCoopers of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia has shown that the company maintains loose business practices that have resulted in losses of around $66 million over the period of about four years. PT Ariawest International has had a long-standing feud with Telekomunikasi over breach of contract and fraud, and is likely to use the audit information to win its case.

Beloved, untried Megawati becomes president

Megawati Sukarnoputri was sworn in as Indonesia's fifth president last Monday, a move that is upsetting many Indonesians. The economy is concerned that Megawati will not be able to make the right decisions in office, nor be able to govern such a large country. Megawati succeeds the presidential seat of Abdurrahman Wahid.
