"Austrian Water": In der Gruppe zum Exporterfolg

Article Abstract:

Fifty water technology companies are expected join the Austrian Water cluster by September 1998. The cooperation was launched with the support of the Wirtschaftskammer in order to promote the export of Austrian water technology. Companies such as OMV and Siemens have joined the cluster that currently comprises 22, mainly small and medium-sized companies with a combined annual turnover of about Sch 2bn. Beside marketing, the cooperation organisation will serve the exchange of information and lobbying. The members will pay fees of Sch 10,000-90,000 annually, and the Austrian government will provide Sch 1.25mn in the first two years each. A similar cooperation organisation is being planned for the environment and energy technology sectors.

Gewerkschaften begegnen Mitgliederschwund mit Fusion

Article Abstract:

In order to fight dwindling memberships, to enhance their bargaining power against employers and to gain synergies in service to members, trade unions in Austria are signing cooperation agreements. The union for agriculture and food, that for construction and wood, and that for the chemical industry signed a cooperation agreement on 20 August 1998 that is to take effect from the beginning of September 1998. The three unions have about 258,000 members between them. Also the trade unions for the railways, trade and transport and hotels and restaurants are planning a similar agreement. An agreement has already been signed by the trade unions for post and printing and paper industries.
