Detroit, MI, may be considered synonymous with the automobile manufacturing industry, yet the climate of international consolidation has prompted more automobile firms to explore other places as potential sites for car manufacturing operations. Decisions on auto manufacturing and assembly locations are based largely on logistical considerations, access to educational facilities, cost of living and quality of life.

B2B hubs adding logistics to services

Article Abstract:

The advent of the Internet has facilitated the acquisition of materials at a reduced cost. In particular, business-to-business hubs (B2B), the electronic version of trading bazaars, have been responsible for the integration of sourcing, purchasing and billing functions. By being incorporated in vertical industries, B2B hubs help firms improve their cash flow, increase inventory turns and improve capacity use.

Multimedia offshore customer assistance

The continued growth of electronic commerce has led to the use of multimedia live assistance options by electronic retailers as a way of enhancing customer support. These options include Internet voice communications, automated electronic mail responose, real-time text chat and callback, to name a few. Coupled with the outsourcing trend, firms are able to acquire the said services on a per-transaction basis.
