France has voiced support for the US in its fight against terrorism, but seems to be avoiding getting too closely involved. This caution may be due to different approaches within France's coalition government, or to a recognition of the opinions of the 4-5 mil Muslims in France.

France has voiced support for the US following the terrorist attacks on the US, but there are some fears over what form the US military response may be. The attacks on US have taken pressure off French Pres Jacques Chirac, who is standing for re-election in May, 2002.
