Avoiding future shock

Article Abstract:

Companies need to anticipate the moves their competition make, and be ready to respond to them. This must be an integral part of the strategic planning process if companies are to remain competitive. Coca-Cola underestimated the effects which supermarket cola would have on their markets, and sales in Canada and the United Kingdom slumped as a result. Companies have to consider how they can get the advantage over competitors, and this may be by altering costs or the service being offered. Competition is set to increase and companies should be ready to consider all these eventualities.
