Azkaar negocia alianzas con empresas del sector

Spanish transport group Azkar is reportedly planning to invest Pta 8,000mn over the next two years in increasing its presence in the overseas marketplace. Azkar is said to be seeking opportunities for cross-share holding alliances with European companies, within the framework of the Euroexpress consortium to which it belongs since 1997. Azkar controls 7% of the domestic market in Spain. In 1998 Azkar predicts a turnover of Pta 28,000mn, representing a year-on-year growth of 30%. Net profits are expected to reach around Pta 2,800mn in 1998.

Talks to acquire a gas transport ship worth Pta 40,000mn from shipbuilders in Spain's Basque country, are reportedly underway by CMB (Compagnie Maritime Belge), in exchange for a stake in the gas business in the Basque country. The ship to be built would be a methane tanker, which according to experts, could only be built at Aesa in Sestao. CMB's consignee in the Bilbao Port will be Maritima Candina, with which it is said to have set up a partnership.
