La UPA rechaza la propuesta de la Comision Europea

Article Abstract:

The members of the Spanish small farmers union (UPA) have expressed their opposition to the proposal of the EU on dairy sector reform. According to the UPA, the sector stands to lose over Pta 23,000mn in 2003 through the proposed Pta 8.8 per litre reduction. The UPA wants 1mn tonnes more of quota for Spain and it claims prices cannot come down without some type of compensation for the farmers. The UPA also wants the quota system to run beyond the year 2006 as it believes it is a social stabilising element.
