(CORRECTION) According to Spanish airline Iberia, there has been total chaos recently at the Madrid-Barajas airport for which the airline blames airport operator Aena. The traffic problems, reportedly resulting from the implementation of new navigation systems, have caused problems throughout the rest of the country. Aena claims the new systems were absolutely necessary and the first phase will be finalised by the holiday season. Iberia also claims it has filed for damages totalling Pta 600mn as a result of the recent air traffic controller strikes. The Spanish Airline Association could also be seeking damages, with Iberia also taking part in the complaint.
