Article Abstract:
The architectural design of the Charter School in Southwark, which is a new educational institution housed in old buildings that are refurbished by Penoyre and Prasad architects to new standards is discussed. The scheme is typical of its time in terms of open movement between buildings, lack of security across the site, the poorly controlled thermal and daylight performance and the limited maintenance since the school's construction.
