Back to the 'shoe-box.' (architectural view of acoustics)

Article Abstract:

Architects face many difficulties when dealing with the acoustics of a building, and the industry has not yet devised a successful approach to this issue. Architects are unhappy at not being able to draw sound as they can draw most other features of a building, and therefore often ignore the acoustic performance of their designs. Both architects and musicians have been disappointed by acoustics, but architects should make every effort to clearly differentiate between acoustics as a scientific principle in design and the incorrect application of current technology.

Windsor Castle needs architectural patrons, not pastiches

Article Abstract:

Architects are calling for Windsor Castle to be rebuilt rather than restored after the fire which destroyed parts of the building. Stephen Greenberg, editor of the 'Architects Journal', points out that the decoration of St George's Hall was Victorian and of little merit historically or architecturally. He believes public opinion is in favour of a new design and the establishment of the Castle as a modern museum.
