Boulder, CO, passed a temporary moratorium on any residential or commercial development, in an effort to prevent the eastern frontier of the Rocky Mountains from becoming one long polluted 'strip city.' Nearby towns may be inclined to follow Boulder's lead.

Article Abstract:
Many historic buildings in the UK have been damaged by misguided efforts in the 1970s to clean up dirty buildings. Sand-blasting and strong chemicals have harmed many buildings. Grime can be protective and may be best left.
