Banco Popular Aggressively Targets 'Unbanked' Immigrants in the U.S

Daimler-Benz takes on Mexican bank

Article Abstract:

Mercedes Benz de Mexico SA has filed a suit on charges of fraud against Banco Nacional del Ejercito, Fuerzas Aereas y Armada SNC, or Banjercito. The auto firm charged the bank, controlled by the Mexican armed forces, of failing to collect on $40 million worth of leases by truck dealers in early 1990s of Mercedes in Mexico. Mercedes counsels also claimed the bank underwrote another $5 million of fraudulent truck loans on its own through the used of the dealer network. The dispute is said to have started in a transaction forged in 1993 by Mexfin SA, a unit of Mercedes Benz, that let Banjercito to collect monthly on more than 1,000 leases executed by Mercedes dealers.
