Risky gamble on Priceline pays off for Li Ka-Shing

Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. and Cheung Kong Holdings Ltd., both owned by Li Ka-Shing, have watched their 15% stakes in Priceline.com Inc. increase $400 million this year, underscoring Mr. Li's ability to select forward-moving investments. Priceline.com showed a profit of $2.8 million in the second quarter, resulting in the stock surge.
