Barnstorming

Article Abstract:

A four-week conversion of a farm barn into offices for a young computer company allowed architect firm Studio BAAD to make full use of light and modern materials while retaining the overall rustic feel of the location. The listed building used for the conversion has been sympathically re-worked, providing office space for up to 30 employees of the Principal Distribution company, based in Yorkshire, UK. Studio BAAD managed the whole project, including interior fittings and furniture.

On public display

Article Abstract:

Natural lighting and a sturdy but lightweight stair case are two of the main features developed by an architecturally-designed re-furbishment of the UK National Youth Theatre. The metal staircase was designed to compliment the curved walls of the stair well, making the best use of natural and artificial lighting. Restoration of the original 1872 building facade was a top priority of the building team.
