Battle for Enel's Wind unit heats up

Wind, subsidiary of Enel S.p.A., valued at approximately $12 billion Euros (including debt) is up for acquisition. Both the Blackstone Group L.P. and Weather Investments are bidding for the Italian telecommunications unit. Wind is the third largest cellular phone operator in Italy.

Verizon Wireless agrees to purchase a unit of price

Verizon Wireless has reached an agreement to acquire Price Communications Wireless in deal that would give control of the Cellular One brand to Verizon. The company is paying $1.5 billion (1.73 billion euros) to acquire Price.

AirGate will buy iPCS for $802.8 million

Article Abstract:

AirGate PCS Inc. will acquire iPCS Inc. in a deal valued at $802.8 million (881 million euros). The deal will make AirGate one of the largest wireless affiliates of Sprint PCS Group.
