Bayer to sell $2.13 million of Agfa stock

Article Abstract:

Bayer AG is planning to sell two billion euros ($2.13 billion) worth of its Agfa-Gevaert NV shares. Agfa is a photo-imaging unit of Bayer. The unit's initial public offering (IPO) is scheduled to take place on June 1, 1999. The IPO will be one of the largest to take place in Germany's history and the largest in Belgium as of May 1999. Bayer is planning to sell off 70 million shares of Agfa.

SAG's pretax profit rises by 35% as it looks to IPO. (Software AG)

Germany's database software vendor Software AG reports a 35% increase in its earnings for 1998. Early earnings report show an increase of $50 million in pretax profits. Software AG plans an initial public offering during the second quarter of 1999. It plans to sell to the public 15 million shares, considered half of its stock .
