Beginners Please: Learn Screen Editing the Easy Way

Article Abstract:

A very useful tool for programming is learning the various facets of screen editing including use of the cursor pad and other crucial editing keys. The listing of a program which can be used as a teaching aid is shown. The program splits the screen into a top half to simulate screen editing mode and a bottom half to display the contents of the keyboard buffer or actual program listing before it is edited. A major problem is that the program does not provide for the execution of any BASIC commands like LIST or NEW. Because screen editing is best taught as a hands-on experience a number of problems and explanations are used. This allows the user to practice finding solutions and thus increase his or her proficiency.
