Beijing selects B shares

Article Abstract:

The 33 companies which have been selected by the Chinese government for B share listings are predicted to raise more than $ billion. The government hopes that this approach will boost the domestic markets catering for foreign investors. This will be the first time that the selection of candidates has been undertaken by the securities authorities, rather than by the two stock exchanges in Shenzhen and Shanghai. The new listings will have average capitalisation of $50 million.
