Beijing sets a diplomatic trap for Taiwan

Article Abstract:

China and Taiwan seems to be in good terms after talks between the two countries have resumed. However, the resumption of talks do not mean that a resolution has been made. The talks have toned the tension that has been building since China launched military exercises off taiwan's coast, which almost adversely affected Sino-American relations. Further military exercises were stopped with the help of American intervention. China has made the world become a facilitator of its talks with Taiwan by making it appear that Taiwan has agreed to have a political dialogue leading to reunification.

Why Taiwan needs the Aegis system

Article Abstract:

The U.S. should sell the Aegis battle-management and Patriot PAC-3 anti-missile systems to Taiwan so that the island can deter a strike from China. If Taiwan has a defense system in place, China would be less likely to attack and the two sides could possibly reach a settlement.
