Bell restructures for convergence

Article Abstract:

Montreal, Quebec-based Bell Canada has appointed Karen Sheriff to be its chief marketing officer and Slyvie Lalande to be its chief communications officer. The appointments are part of the company's plan to consolidated its marketing departments in preparation for convergence. Sheriff and Lalande together will manage all marketing by the company's Ontario and Quebec divisions, Bell ActiMedia, Bell Distribution Inc, Bell Nexxia and Bell Mobility.

Ellis new CEO at Shandwick

Shandwick Canada has named Richard Ellis company president and CEO, replacing Paul Costello who left the company in Apr 2000. Ellis used to serve as executive vice president and general manager of the public relation firm's Toronto, Ontario, office. WIth his appointment, Ellis will be responsible for Shandwick's eight Canadian offices, including the offices of BDDS in Montreal, and Quebec City, Quebec.

Schaefer takes on YTV marketing job

Article Abstract:

Shaw Communications subsidiary YTV will have Susan Schaefer as its new VP for marketing, replacing Susan Mandryk who is appointed as VP of market development in Corus Entertainment. The move resulted from Shaw's restructuring program that brings all its media holdings under Corus. The new YTV executive intends to grow the agency beyond TV and enter the apparel and publishing business.
