Berth allocation planning in the public berth system by genetic algorithms

Article Abstract:

Issues relating to the problem of establishing a dynamic berth assignment to ships in Japan's public berth system are discussed. The public berth system is needed for improved cost-effectiveness in Japanese ports. A heuristic procedure for berth allocation is developed, based on the genetic algorithm.
