Beyond.com agrees to buy software seller BuyDirect

Beyond.com Inc. announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire BuyDirect for approximately $133.7 million in shares. The deal combines two of the largest sellers of computer software on the Internet. The deal signals Beyond.com's first major purchase since it went public in 1998. The deal also reflects the growing trend towards consolidation on the Internet.
