'Bigger quotas if you fish smarter'

Article Abstract:

Conference at Dundalk, organized as part of the Irish Presidency of the EU, stated that the fishermen could get bigger quotas if they switch to more environmentally friendly catching methods. It was suggested that the fishermen need to devise, test and implement technical measures to aid conservation.

Rights cuts 'protect coastal stocks'

Article Abstract:

The South African government's decision to cut linefish fleet licenses to half of their earlier numbers to protect the collapsing coastal eco system was largely criticized by the fisheries. The part - time fishery operators are expelled from fishing activities.

Taxing fishermen to maintain stocks!

The South African fisheries regulations, taxation and enforcement are discussed. The decision to tax fisheries to maintain fishing resources is criticized.
