Biocel looks for a buyer for its stake in JIP

Article Abstract:

Biocel (Paskov, Czech Republic), pulp company, is going on looking for a buyer for its 49.87% stake in the paper firm Jihoceske papirny (JIP) (Vetrni, Czech Republic) in 2001. The company did not manage to sell the shares within its second attempt owing to low money offers. However, Biocel's new owner Zellstoff Poels (Austria), which holds 93.64% of shares, insists on the sale of the stake in JIP. Biocel expects its net profit to decline to CEK 500 mil in 2001 compared to CEK 732 mil in 2000. In 1999 the company saw a profit of CEK 128 mil. The big growth in 2000 was caused mainly by a favourable situation on the global pulp market.
