Boeing, Airbus foresee peak year for orders despite airline woes

Article Abstract:

Boeing Co. of the United States and Airbus S.A.S. of France are forecasting a record year for aircraft orders, even as airlines expect $8 billion in losses for this year with soaring fuel costs. Both aircraft manufacturing companies together have over 1,000 solid orders for planes with orders for several hundred more in negotiation.

FedEx becomes first to cancel Airbus A380 order

After delivery delays, FedEx Corp. has cancelled its order for Airbus' A380 superjumbo aircraft. FedEx is replacing the order with Boeing 777 freighters, highlighing the rivalry between Airbus and Boeing Co.

UPS wants to cancel part of Airbus order: as ground services grow, shipper says euro 1.28 billion of jets aren't needed now

United Parcel Service Inc. is currently renegotiating its contract with Airbus S.A.S. in order to drop orders for A300-600 aircraft totaling $1.6 billion. UPS has already taken delivery of 32 planes.
