Bridgestone Slashes Profit Estimate

Japan's Bridgestone Corp., which has been hurt by a massive recall of defective tires this year, has cut its profit forecast. Bridgestone, which recalled 6.5 million tires, has failed to determine a single cause for the failure of its tires.

Bridgestone's profit falls 80% on loss in U.S. after recall

Bridgestone Corp. posted a decline of 83% in its profits for the 2000 year, primarily due to the huge recall of its Firestone tires in the United States. The company posted 17.74 billion yen (167.5 million euros) in net profits for the year, its lowest posting in a decade.
