Approaching vanishing point: the emergence of stealth ships

Article Abstract:

The military surface ships of the next century are, by necessilty, stealthy because future conflicts are likely to arise in crowded littoral waters. European navies, especially the Swedish Navy with its Smyge technology demonstrator, are at the forefront of naval stealth technology. In the US, the upcoming DD 21 land attack destroyer is expected to feature stealth elements of Lockheed Martin's Sea Shadow technology demonstrator. Israel's Sa'ar 5 corvettes incorporate many stealth elements with its steel hull and aluminum superstructure.
